Renault-Nissan has ambitious plans for the electric car. By 2012, they plan to have a complete range of electric cars in every large car market. And at a price that is cheaper than current gasoline powered vehicles. They are also working on building up a network of charging stations that will give a 70% power-charge in about the same time it takes to fill up a tank with gas.
The initial target will be fleet buyers who can provide their own charging stations. It may take many years to completely build up the infrastructure necessary to support electric cars. But with gas now around $4 a gallon, it can't come soon enough.
